Sunburst Technique Tuesday

Hello Stampers and Happy Tuesday.....

Today ends the final day of my long weekend vacation...although not much of a vacation being I've been sick the past two days...UGH!

Anyhow...back to work (my daytime job) tomorrow and it's....what day is it?   lol  HUMP DAY!  Don'tcha just love that commercial.....lol

Anyhow...being Tuesday, I thought I would share a fun technique with you...Sunburst Technique...it gets the name cause it looks like the sun's rays..only you would never see the sun's rays look like our DSP....I want to thank Dawn Olshefski for her idea on how to do this design while saving paper....

Okay...here we go.....

Start off by chosing your Designer Series Paper.  I chose Witches Brew which is found in the Holiday Catalog page 21 # 132185 $10.95...and the best part of Stampin' Up!'s DSP is that it is double sided....woo hoo!

You will need three pieces of DSP cut at 1 1/2 x 4 inches.  Then cut them at a diagonal to create six pieces in total.

Then cut a piece of cardstock 3 3/4 x 3 1/2. Find the center of the cardstock longwise and mark it.  This is where you are going to start layering your pieces of DSP.  When complete, it'll look like this.  You can use the glue of your choice either glue stick, SNAIL or Tombo.

You'll want to turn it over the trim...don't throw the pieces away because you'll need two of the larger pieces to put one on each end to fill in the front.

When you have attached them all,  it'll look like this...now the rest is up to you...

I cut a piece of Pumpkin Pie CS 3 3/4 x 5 inches and attached my Sunburst piece and some stamping, ribbon, whatever you wish.

And...tada!  Here is the finished project.  I used StazOn ink and the Halloween Hello Stamp Page 21 # 131718 wood mounted $18.95 and #131721 clear mounted $14.95 set. A small piece of ribbon was added and simply tied with a knot.  I added some googlie eyes to the bat...they are a little large but adds a whimsical touch...these were googlie eyes I had left over from last year (Stampin' Up! had them for a limited time but you may still be able to purchase them on the Clearance Rack).

That's it...now go to it...get those scraps and get creating....Don't forget to share with me your creations!

Happy Stampin'  Susan
