It's Tuesday....and do you know what that means?.....It's Technique Tuesday
Hope your day is going well....it's a great day...don't you think?
Today I'd like to share with you a step by step tutorial on how to create a fun DSP wreath (Designer Paper Wreath). These wreaths are so fun...I've had sun a great time making them.
I have to be honest....I'm a paper hoarder....yes...okay...that's right...I tend to hoard paper....not just any paper...Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper! It's so beautiful...I love it..but don't like to use it....so...maybe I need paper hoarder therapy? lol
This is a great way, if you are like me, to use up some of those favorite papers and enjoy them! I have been using up my paper and enjoying the outcome...and the wreath is on display so it's even better.
Okay...now that I got that off my chest...of to the tutorial.....
Here's what you will need to create these fun wreaths:
The supplies required are a round Styrofoam wreath, at least six sheets of Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper (the great part about SU papers is it is double sided), a bone folder, straight pins and a paper cutter....that's it!
To begin, SU DSP is 12 x 12 in size, so all you need to do is cut the paper into strips that are 12 x 1/2 inch. You'll have a pile of them. If you want to be organized, you can separate them before beginning, but I didn't...I just kept pilling them up. Then with your bone folder, you are going to start in the center of the DSP and simply curl it, turn and curl the other side. If you wish them to be more tighter curls you can hand curl them up and they'll be like ringlets.
Okay...now that you have that completed....you will use straight pins to poke each curled DSP into the wreath....it's simple but if you have done a ton of them like me, you may want to use some protection on your thumb for pushing in the pins like a thimble...and be careful of paper cuts...lol From experience.
I pretty much only did the front and sides....being my wreath will be hanging on a door or a wall where you won't see the back, I didn't bother to fill up the back. Add a hanger and decorate as you wish, and voila!
This wreath, I just added a simple burlap bow...but you can chose to decorate as much (although I feel they don't need much) or as little as you like.
Here's one I used some fun Stampin' Up! embellishments....the sky is the limit..
Update: I just completed my eighth wreath..they make great gifts so I took one to work to share and one for my door and one for my daughter, and.... well, you get the picture....
Happy Wreath Making...be sure to share with me what you have created!
Happy Stampin (and curling)!
Susan
