Borderline Buddies Day

Happy Wednesday...and Borderline Buddies Day!

I was starting to think we wouldn't have a challenge this week...it was Leanna's turn....thought she was slacking, but woo hoo!  She came through.

Her challenge this week was masking....we wear a lot of masks these days, don't we?  Well, why shouldn't our cards do the same?

Masking is a simple technique, but it can be done many different ways....you can stamp an image and then cover over the image and stamp over it protecting the first image...makes it appear further off in the distance.

You can also protect an area with a piece of paper or cardstock making faux layers.

You can do many other ways...which maybe I'll have to do a technique share for you on the many ways of masking...anywho....

Here's what I came up with:

First off, I stamped Baked Brown Sugar with Chocolate Chip onto the background stamp Hardwood.
I am so loving this huge background stamp (come to my Masculine Class as we'll be using this stamp to create a beautiful "man" card.

Next, I took a piece of cardstock and tore the bottom using this as a mask over my card.  I put the larger piece of CS over the top to protect while I layered with the Garden Green, lighter and darker moving the mask.

I then took the smaller piece to cover the masked area I already sponged and covered the bottom.  I also took a scrap piece and punched out a circle I used this punched piece to protect an area on the top and sponged using Pool Party and then Coastal Cabana (matching the base card).

I then took off those masks and then used the piece I punched out the circle to protect the "sky" and sponged with Crushed Curry and then lightly with Tangelo Twist.

I used the Lovely As a Tree stamp (which we were informed by our CEO and Cofounder, Shelli) that this will NEVER retire!  YEAH!  I stamped using Chocolate Chip.  So that I stamped it right where I wanted the trees to land, I did use my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.

And...again...here is the final card:

Now, head on over to Leanna's blog to see what she has created for our challenge this week!

Have a super stampin' day!

Susan
