I'm super excited to be a part of this fun blog hop....
When I heard of this fun hop from Janet Wakeland....I had to jump at the chance to be a part of this.
Breast Cancer Awareness is a very important cause...just just for the month of October for it should be brought to our attention every day....but we especially have made October the month to remind us of how important it is to be tested.....
On a personal note, two years back I wasn't feeling well. I went for the blood work, x-rays and all the normal types of testing....I was then sent for an abdominal ultrasound and there was something that showed up....so to further understand what it was, I was then sent for more x-rays and a CAT scan...well....it was made quite clear that I had a lemon-sized mass in my left kidney....so after discussing it at length with my urologist the decision was made to remove the kidney. We didn't know at the time what it was, malignant, non malignant, had to spread, was it encapsulated....so many questions.....and no answers.....until I had the surgery and it was sent for pathology.
Well, the kidney was removed (which was a very difficult operation and recovery) and before I left the hospital, my worst nightmare came true...it was cancer....but I feel I was very fortunate...not many can say that when they are given a diagnosis of a malignant mass....but so I was told by my urologist, the "best" kind of cancer was what I was diagnosed with.....and to also be fortunate was that it was encapsulated in the kidney....no further anywhere else...the treatment? Just removal of the kidney which was the planned surgery.....No chemo...no further treatment...just the painful recovery from the surgery which is quite extensive....but I had faith in my surgeon and he did an excellent job....I go for testing each year....and two years later....I am cancer free...I continue to be followed up...but I had quite a scare...and cannot even image what others have gone through in all sorts of cancers...
While my cancer would have never been found unless I had some aches and pains, cancer is a deadly killer....you need to be checked each and every year (or more)....catching it early is the key.
So...back to why we are here....to make awareness....we are turning this blog hop totally pink...and making women (and men) aware of this very important cause.
